be sure the card is seating firmly in the slot.. make sure the card is formatted.
Check if it's a bad card by using another card that is known to be good.

Try other lower cards (2G/1G/...MB) and reset camera default.

Hi ja3,
By what you posted earlier (problem inserting SD card), did you fix it and how?
When comes to the second problem later (No memory card), did you have any problem inserting other cards as I suggested?
After you inserted any card, assuming the message came on, did you go to camera's Menu and format the card?
When you reinsert that card again, if the message still comes on, then it is possible the SD card contact inside your camera is damaged, or dirty, or loosed. The camera can not detect any SD card inserted.
Those just only are my reading of the problem.
Please post your thoughts.

Mine just started doing the same thing tonight... no matter what memory card I put in it, It just says "no memory card" ????? Is it something canon built in so we would buy a new camera? I can get it to read any size card, tried 1GB, 4GB, 16GB

I have tried 1, 2 and 16 gig cards, and still get the error message. I am afraid that I will have to bring it to a store for service......any help out there?
