Rad....please let me know! I've many options available. The one folded, and in front of me I liked because the font could be larger.
What would suit your tastes here? And, how would the change benefit? I'm flexible & can be convinced to change my thinking. Sometimes easier than others!!!....right Nick (RobinG) ?? Anyone else have some ideas/thoughts?? I just want to be able to make these for "all" to use/enjoy and benefit from, so help me help you!! |

Dude. You sounded like Gerry Maguire.
"Help me, help you." I was thinking since its a "cheatsheet"... and probably can be a compilation of tips n techniques... so why not make it like a "small" booklet type or product tag type... with a hole in the side where you can use a tie wire or any rope perhaps to bind them... (I dont know if im clear) Just a suggestion. I'll try to make one this afternoon... or late this evening.

I get what you're thinking, and can't say I disagree! I guess for once I wasn't thinking directly to the future!! So...leave it with me, see what I can come up with....
In the mean time..what do the rest of you think?? |

Is there a cheatsheet for specific settings or an idea of where to start some of the settings for some everyday type of photos? Know what I mean? I have tried some of the "scene" modes to get an idea, when I have time to check, but a cheatsheet would be nice!
1. Candlelight birthday photos 2. Moon Shots 3. Action shots 4. Water, moving and still 5. indoor shots 6. Gymnasium shots ( action and still ) 7. Indoor church shots 8. Bright outdoor shots 9. Shade shots I don't want to cause anybody to do any work, I was just hoping that something had already been done and I am missing it somewhere on the site. One more question, for the ping pong light diffuser, you said to pain the back and bottom silver, are you painting the outside or the inside? Thank you for your help. Dana

I agree a quick reference sheet would be very helpful to me. Something that would be easily portable.

Guys, does anyone have this CheatSheet for the S3?
I cannot get it delivered here and I need it. Can anyone scan it for us or point us to a PDF version? It would be great. Thanks.

Yes, I have it, but as it is copyrighted I can't scan it in and post it for you.
The website says they do international shipping for $2.50: http://www.photocheatsheets.com/ I never use mine as I don't find it too helpful, so I may be willing to mail it to you if you can't get it any other way . . . Last edited by michelem : 2008-07-20 at 08:37 PM. |

will this actually break down the different situations and tips as to how to approach them in the different modes? Like denasa was mentioning? for example, indoor shooting and how to approach it.

holy crap that looks irrelevant.
someone just needs to post a wiki page with some quick how to's and the situation will be done and over with. the information although looks useful, seems to dense for something that is on the fly. 1. Candlelight birthday photos 1) TV mode 2) set white balance 3) iso 200 4) well lit preferrable however an external flash would do wonders 2. Moon Shots -- 1) use tripod for maximum effectiveness 2) Set to AV settings to regulate aperature value 3) manually set white balance 4) Zoom to 48x (you'd have to crop it in 12x, so might as well just zoom to 48x.) 5) set AV to say 3.5 to take in a good amount of light. 3. Action shots 1) Shoot on AV mode 2) choose a fast iso ---> 400 3) use continuous mode 4. Water, moving and still 1) For freezing water in air, have a well lit area. 2)Using CHDK, set shutter speed to 1/3200. 3) Onboard flash works fairly well. AV mode preferrable. 5. indoor shots 1) tripod recommended 2) external flash recommended for bouncing off the ceiling 3)Use a iso around 100 4) Aperature at 3.5 is sufficient 6. Gymnasium shots ( action and still ) tough call. 1) tripod rec because the camera is not quite a dslr. high iso speed. and pray that the image doesn't come out too noisy. 7. Indoor church shots External flashes will be hard to use as the ceiling is too high for flash to effectively light up the room. Ask permission as some might think that using flash in a church is distracting 8. Bright outdoor shots -- auto mode will do the trick. that's where the s5 kicks butt in. recommend that you use a polarizer to reduce glare, and an overexposed background. 9. Shade shots -- tough call. this is where a dslr kicks butt as the two contrasts of dark and light are not quite in the s5's ability to balance properly without having one area overexposed and one underexposed. that's my idea of a cheat sheet. something small, portable etc etc. add on as this was just a quick go

I've been experimenting with a text file to put into the CHDK "Books" folder for reference when I'm out - has to be formatted in a narrow column to show up in the display. I'd be interested in better ideas or handy additions to this - hoping one day not to need these memory joggers:

now THATS what i'm TALKING ABOUT! good cheat sheet. though i'm not sure you need to spec the macro mode since the camera slides into it by itself.
you should add a hdr how to.

Thanks. The macro reminder is to help me with positioning the camera. I haven't tried HDR yet. If you have "cheat" specs for shooting a series for HDR, it would be good to see them.
