baris - I believe Virtualdub does this - one of the best known (free) avi tools.

step 1) have CHDK installed
step 2) Use Jpegvideo (software) step 3) make movie. =)

I know it's not free, but I have used Quicktime Pro in the past and that seems to work really well also.
